Im debating on building a fast n/a street/strip car. Currently i have a 4th gen trans am that makes 450rw on ls1 motor. Motor is partially sold. So when i pull it. The heads and cam off it are going to new owner. Pistons and rods are also pending sale. Forged scat hbeams and mahle power pack pistons. Block.is fs btw. Now im thinking of dropping a completely stock 5.7 ls1 in this immaculate low miles trans am and selling it for 8-9k. I was gonna turbo charge it. But i sold my tc78 and 44mm wg. Last weekend. So no more turbo. I have a set of ls heads that flow VERY good ;D So i just finished assembly.of the motor thats i was gonna use for turbo. But cant use for n/a.
So... What im trying to say is if i should build the new motor and drop in the 99 trans am or a hardtop iroc??? I alredy have the trans am. And it would be efi. If i go with iroc, it will be carb. I have most of the parts to manage the efi. If i go carb. I need the carb, intake, spark box. Motor is gonna b a 380ci hbeams(i use hbeams in everything) forged pistons. 11.75:1scr pump gas motor.

You'd definitly look cooler doing it in an IROC. Especially if you leave it stock looking. You'd have one hell of a sleeper to blow the doors off of unsuspecting cobra drivers on the streets.
It would also garner you alot more attention @ shows since you don't really get to see LS1 conversions in thirdgens too often. Aside from that going with the t/a would make a ton more sense since you already have the car...

I think the whole set up would be appreciated more in a thirdgen. Most people think of thirdgens being slower than ls trans ams etc so i agree with mancha on the sleeper idea.
Im surprised ur going with a hardtop though, maybe im the only one who favors t tops hah. But with the ammount of power u want to make, u need a hardtop.

Yes. I really want a hardtop iroc. Must b camaro. Thats kinda y i lost interest in the blurple bird. Was just not the same:( I own 2 ttops cars. But i know the 4thgen m6 black trans ams sell quick and bring in a fair amount. Mine is a 9.5:10 condition in/out. And whateverybody wants. That dam t56. All my cars are t56:) So obviously im big fan of manual. But i know i will never beat or compare to a machine at shifting. Theres gonna be nothing sleeper about what ever car i build. Im going for the whole track warrior look. And pack enuff to back it up. I just cant decide which car to drop it in. I need to find a really, strait, clean hardtop iroc z.

i agree with 1fas92
the thirdgens handle better and are lighter, u might benefit more from an iroc. I went to austin to pick my iroc up, most of the ones in houston wer over priced back then not sure how the market is now.

John Ya, i know all about the 3rd gen lighter and handling. It will have the manual s10 box just like the other one. No ps. No ac. In 3rd gen. No way will i gut a perfectly good 4th gen ta. I think the iroc is prolly 1000lb lighter as is from a 4th gen

I would use a jongbloed?? Type hood. I would really like a sunoco type hood. Like for 4thgens. Maybe even a ultra z type hood?? I was gonna order a vfn wsq this weekend.for the 99 ta. But i saw zanes car again. And put a halt to ordering parts for ta. seeing his car again put me in a bind.
